Low-Light Vision
The monster can see in dim light as though it were bright light, so it ignores the Concealed condition due to dim light.
TremorsenseTremorsense allows a monster to feel the vibrations through a solid surface caused by movement. It is an imprecise sense with a limited range (listed in the ability). Tremorsense functions only if the monster is on the same surface as the subject, and only if the subject is moving along (or burrowing through) the surface.
At-Will SpellsThe monster can cast its at-will spells any number of times without using up spell slots.
Constant SpellsA constant spell affects the monster without the monster needing to cast it, and its duration is unlimited. If a constant spell gets counteracted, the monster can reactivate it by spending the normal spellcasting actions the spell requires.
Axe VulnerabilityThe hivebound arboreal takes 15 additional from axes.
Swarm Host (aura, primal)20-foot emanation Aura
The hivebound arboreal is host to a cloud of flying ants that swarm around it and gnaw at any creature within the aura. Non-arboreal creatures that enter the aura or start their turn within it take 7d8 piercing damage from the bites (DC 38 basic fortitude). If the hivebound arboreal fails a saving throw against an area effect, the biting ants die off, and the aura is deactivated until new ants swarm out at the end of the hivebound arboreal's next turn (or after 1 minute, if the hivebound arboreal critically fails it saving throw).
Constrict4d6+16 bludgeoning damage, DC 41 basic fortitude
The monster deals the listed amount of damage to any number of creatures Grabbed or Restrained by it. Each of those creatures can attempt a basic Fortitude save with the listed DC.
Offered to the SwarmTrigger The arboreal Grabs or Constricts a foe
Requirements The hivebound arboreal's swarm host is activeEffect The arboreal offers up the triggering creature to its ants to feed. The triggering creature takes damage as from the swarm host aura, but thereafter gains a +4 circumstance bonus to Escape the Grab until it Escapes.
Throw RockThe monster picks up a rock within reach or retrieves a stowed rock and throws it, making a ranged Strike.
Improved GrabThe monster can use Grab as a free action triggered by a hit with its initial attack. A monster with Improved Grab still needs to spend an action to extend the duration for creatures it already has Grabbed.

Traits
This rarity indicates that a rules element is very difficult to find in the game world. A rare feat, spell, item or the like is available to players only if the GM decides to include it in the game, typically through discovery during play. Creatures with this trait are rare. They typically can't be summoned. The DC of Recall Knowledge checks related to these creatures is increased by 5.
PlantVegetable creatures have the plant trait. They are distinct from normal plants. Magical effects with this trait manipulate or conjure plants or plant matter in some way. Those that manipulate plants have no effect in an area with no plants.
